Evaluation - Who Would Be the Audience For Your Media Product?

When gathering my research on the different films that were simular to my own i noticed that they all have the same audience. This was through to they all aim at teens of both genders at the young adult audience have our entertained through being scared. Even though they are aimed at teens the bbfc certifcate for these films are 18. This is all apart from "Six Feet Under" which is a 15. The reason why it is at a lower age is due to "Six Feet Under" is a television series was on tv therefore being at a time of 9pm would clash with the target audience of teenager shows.

My Media product would also reseach to other audience that are shown in the Prezi below:

Evaluation - What Kind Of Media Instiuation Might destribute Your Meida Product And Why?

I think that my film would be distributed to the audience through showing my film in the cinema. i do not think it would go straight to dvd as if it did there would be less known. Also i feel that when people see new releases they would rather buy the films that they have heard of or have seen their selves. The types of cinemas i would send my film would be in all cinema so the film can get a wide appeal such as oden, empire etc.The film distrubuters for my film would be New Line Cinema - this is due to from my research i have found that there film distrubiters of such films as Se7en have the same. Because of them having the same target audience - althrough my film branch to the younger audience as well -  and having the same gender i have chosen them. Plus, they are a well known film distruster which will help promote my film.

To advertise and the type of marketing my film would have i feel would mainly be through television adverts. These would be shown later at night as it is a horror and would appeal to a young adult/adult audience which is the main prime time of this audience rather than in mid afternoon as this would be a child of age between 6 to 12's prime time. Plus the target audience would be able to view the adverts as at this time between 9pm+ the target market would be home from work, school, college etc. The channels that these adverts would go on would be chanel 4 and e4, for the young adult as is the most popular channel for this target market and they have the same target market.    For the older adults between 25- 40 years old i would put the advert on to channel five and sky 1 this is due to these chanels target a mortity of a male audience shown through programes such as lost. In addition to this i would send posters to colleges and universites to promote my film as well as publishing articles about the film in such magazines as Empire.

i feel that the time of year that my film is released is important. i think that my film should be released in November. This is because October is the time of year when horror films are released due to co-insiding with holloween. An example of this is "Paranormal Activity" - a horror film released last year in 2009 was released two weeks before holloween in october. Another way films have used the time of year to promote their film like the film "Valentine's Day" which was released on the actual valentines day. However, even though my film is a subgenere of horror i feel that it would not be a not idea to release it in october/ holloween sseason. this is due to that my film will more than likely have rivals at that time and might not get as notice. therefore i would release it in november.

Evaluation- How Does Your Media Products Represent Particular Social Groups?

Evaulation: In what ways does your media production use, develop or challenges forms and conentions of real media products?

The research i did for the main task was on different opening sequence first to give my group and i some ideas for example James Bond Goldfinger to show what type of thing we could do like with abstract. Also i looked at some opening sequences that where similar to what i was trying to create with my group. For this we looked at such films as se7en, six feet under, creep and Hannibal. From this i found that the conventions from our genre of horror where mainly the key items of blood, dark lighting to create mystery, making things less obvious to the audience, weapons such as knifes to create pain and high slow pitch music to help create tension. From my research i found that most used disorientation to enhance the feel of tenion of the horror to the audience which was done with fast cut editing and the off angle shots from the camera. I also found that from my research that the storyline was not given away by using any narrative but through using different images like in Se7en there is a close up shot of a book then another of hands. They are each different items that on their own are meaningless but when put together they give an impression to the audience. I learnt that from this research the combination of the items that my group and I use had to create the right impression. The research we used i felt helped in creating our title sequence as it gave our group a guideline and direction. Some aspects of the research did not help us this was because for our horror we were trying to scare the audience by psychotic behaviour rather than the used of blood and guts. Our "fright factor" came from the dysfunctions of the mind of our character which meant that in trying to create this we had to take small things from different research. i felt that the research also helped with which camera angles and editing worked within the genre. For example if we wanted to use a fade we could see our research and see if that would have fitted with our genre. In my work i think that i did conform to some aspects to the conventions and other i did not. This is due to in my work i gave the conventions of horror through the blood dripping and having a hangman’s noose (to give the connotation of death as in a horror people always die). However, in my group’s piece we wanted to have a side to show the sane side of the character which we did my getting him ready for work. This i feel is challenging the conventions of horror due to the connotations are not related to horror which is due to getting ready for work is what everyone does and is not out of the ordinary unlike a spooky situation of a horror.

Storyboards and scripts

For our piece we did not use a script this was due to we were not planning to do an opening scene because we wanted the audience to focus mainly on the different images that where appearing. Also if we did have the character using dialogue it would create more personality and identity which we did not want as it would then help show the contrast of the mental and normal side to the character.

Here is our story boards below in a  link
i have made the storyboards on the computer and i have transfered them onto a software on the internet call prezi to make it easier to view them.
